A snap lid needs a fingernail under its edge. A push-button lid needs the side of a thumb on a button the size of a coin, and the lid springs up on its own. That is the whole difference, and for a hand with arthritis it is the difference between opening the box and asking someone else to. The compartment floor is rounded too, so a tablet rolls to the front rather than sitting in a square corner where it has to be chased with a finger.

The Arthritis Foundation lists the push-button weekly in XL and 2XL, the daily AM/PM push-button box and the Medtime four-times-a-day tray as Ease of Use certified, which means the products were tested by experts and evaluated by people with arthritis rather than by us. The same button sits on the plain weekly in Small and Medium and on the three-a-day tray. Rainbow, grayscale, pastel and the plain blue and purple share the tray; the colour changes nothing under the lid.

This page is general information about medication tools, not medical advice. Whether a tablet may be split or crushed, how much of a medicine to give and what to do about a missed dose are questions for the pharmacist who filled the prescription and the doctor who wrote it.

Every size and colourway in this line is priced on its own; the Ezy Dose catalogue keeps the figures current and the till is what decides.

Questions about Ezy Dose push-button pill organizers

Opens under the side of a thumb

Is an Ezy Dose push-button organizer easier to open than a snap lid if your hands are stiff?

That is what it is for. The button takes a press from the side of a thumb, the lid rises on its spring, and there is no edge to get a fingernail under. The Arthritis Foundation’s Ease of Use page for this line is on their own site, linked from the sources on this page.

Which Ezy Dose push-button organizers can you find on the Ease of Use list?

The Foundation’s page names four: the weekly push-button organizer in XL and 2XL, the daily AM/PM push-button organizer, and the Medtime push-button four-times-a-day organizer. The rest of the line shares the button but is not on that list, and we say so rather than stretch the mark.

Will the push-button lids on your Ezy Dose organizer pop open in a bag?

They are meant for a counter rather than a handbag: the button is easy to press on purpose and can be pressed by accident against a wallet. For a bag, the locking organizers and the moisture-proof travel cases are the ones built to stay shut.
