01Powder for a spoonful of applesauce
Twist crushers that grind a tablet to powder inside a closed cup, a three-compartment crusher that keeps the next doses in its base, and the Cut N Crush that cuts, crushes and stores in one tool.
Sizes in this line: Small, Large.
Colourways in this line: Blue, Purple, Red, Green, Light Blue, Black.
A crusher is for a tablet that will not go down whole, and it works by a screw thread: the tablet sits in the cup, the lid turns, and a ridged face grinds it fine enough to stir into applesauce. Before the crusher comes the check, and it is stricter than for cutting. A modified-release tablet crushed to powder gives up the whole dose at once, and an enteric coating exists to keep the drug away from the stomach; neither survives a crusher. The pharmacist knows which tablets are which, and the tools on this page assume that conversation has happened.
After it, the choice is about the cup. The Small crusher is a pocket tool with a single storage compartment in the base; the Large grinds a bigger tablet with less turning. The three-compartment crusher stores two more doses under the grinding cup, so a day’s tablets travel with the tool that will crush them. The Cut N Crush and the 3-in-1 crusher-and-cutter put a blade in the lid as well, for a tablet that is split first and crushed second. Each comes apart for washing, and the powder wants to be taken straight away rather than stored.

This page is general information about medication tools, not medical advice. Whether a tablet may be split or crushed, how much of a medicine to give and what to do about a missed dose are questions for the pharmacist who filled the prescription and the doctor who wrote it.
Every size and colourway in this line is priced on its own; the Ezy Dose shelves keeps the figures current and the till is what decides.
02About this line
Powder for a spoonful of applesauce
Modified-release tablets, which are marked MR, SR, XL or LA and release all at once if crushed; enteric-coated and gastro-resistant tablets, whose coating is the point; and a few others a pharmacist will name. Film-coated and chewable tablets usually can be crushed. Ask before the first turn of the lid.
Fine enough to stir into yoghurt or applesauce without grit, after a few turns of the lid. A hard tablet takes more turns than a soft one; the Large crusher has a wider cup and gets there sooner.
For a tablet that is split and then crushed, yes: the blade in the lid halves it and the cup grinds it. For a tablet that is only ever split, the dedicated cutters have a deeper cradle and a safety shield, and are the better tool.
